April showers may bring May flowers, but April storms can bring unwanted damages to your home or business. Issues that may have started in the winter, like ice damming, are only exacerbated in the early spring, as compromised gutters fail to do their work. Additionally, loose or missing shingles may be visible from the ground on a residential roof, but a flat, commercial roof doesn’t offer that same vantage point.
Clogged drain boxes or scupper boxes are among the more common issues April storms uncover on commercial roofs. Typically built into the corners of flat roofs, clogged boxes collect debris and hamper proper drainage. Similarly, ice damming impacts gutters attached to residential roofs. Damming may cause gutters to separate from the fascia of the roof; their failure presents issues for roofs and walls.
Members of G. Fedale’s Storm Restoration Division are all HAAG certified, giving us an edge and a higher knowledge base from our competitors. In addition to providing consulting services to those in the construction industry, HAAG is a recognized leader in continuing education and certification. Collectively, our G. Fedale Storm Team is well equipped to assess residential damages resulting from storms, but when it comes to commercial roofs, we turn to Beau Cameron.
Beau’s disaster restoration skills were honed while working as a field adjuster in the insurance industry. Later, she ran the vendor network for Allstate. “There was a huge need within the roofing industry regarding how they align with insurance. … And no one was acting as the eyes or ears in our vendor network,” she recalls. Realizing an unmet niche, Beau decided to learn all she could about roofing. She first worked with G. Fedale last summer as a consultant and became a full-time employee here the first of the year. She pushed for the HAAG training as a means of authenticating the work our storm division does and to help us better align ourselves with insurance adjusters.
“If we’re going to grow this storm team, we need to train our guys to help the adjusters,” she said at the time.
We’re pleased to say we currently have six inspectors in our Storm Restoration Division who are HAAG-certified and ready to help you when the storms hit.
